INFORMATION CENTRE OF THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART (IC NGA)
IC was Established in 1993 as a department of the Open Society Fund‘s Program for Culture (Soros Contemporary Art Centre). Since 2000 it has functioned as the Contemporary Art Information Centre a branch of the National Art Museum of Lithuania. And in 2008 it became a unit of the new National Gallery of Art.
IC aims to contribute to the ongoing development of Lithuanian contemporary art, the archiving and dissemination of information, promoting international collaboration between Lithuanian contemporary art professionals, institutions, and collegial organisations abroad, and initiating projects of contemporary art presented at the National Gallery of Art, collaborating Lithuanian institutions and internationally.
INFO PLATFORM • resources on Lithuanian art of the 20th and 21st centuries and information about the activities of the National Gallery of Art • constantly updated information about local and international exhibitions, calls for projects, residencies and educational programs • consulting services for local and international art professionals
CONTEMPORARY ART ARCHIVE • reading room of Lithuanian and international contemporary art history, critical studies, theory, and illustrated exhibition catalogues and artist’s monographs • videotheque collection of contemporary Lithuanian artists’ moving image works, video documentation of performances and exhibitions • archive of documentation Lithuanian artists working from the second half of the 20th and 21st centuries

The Contemporary Art Archive is open for the public: Tuesday to Friday: 10 am – 5 pm (except public holidays)
CREATIVE PLATFORM • organisation of contemporary art projects in Lithuania and abroad • collaboration on international contemporary art projects • development of information and educational projects IC organises and curates contemporary art exhibitions, conferences, seminars, creative workshops, discussions in the National Gallery of Art and collaborates nationally and internationally with a wide network of international contemporary art institutions and professionals.
