Continuing the series of events focused on urban space, KultFlux presents its new exhibition titled Quantity Bears Identity. Curated by Shanghai-based independent curator Irina Pavlov and Eglė Mikalajūnaitė (Information Centre of the National Gallery of Art, Vilnius), it features five young artists from Shanghai – Lu Yang, Yuan Chongyin, Zhu Shengfei, Yu Ji and Deng Yeming – and presents works dedicated to one of the world’s major metropolitan areas and the artists’ own native city.

Yu Ji, Deng Yeming. "The Traffic Map of Shanghai"
In Shanghai, the city that has experienced stunning growth over a course of several decades, the rush hour never ends: crowds of people hurry forwards and backwards 24-7. The artists taking part in Quantity Bears Identity contemplate Shanghai’s public space and the ceaseless flows of people and transportation within it. Their works reflect on human interpersonal relationships shaped by these conditions: contrasting behavior in public and private spaces, the relationship between individuality and the mass, emerging threats and struggle for survival in the urban jungle, and efforts at adjusting to the rapidly changing social codes.
